The International Builders Show was in Orlando last week. While attendance was sparse, the new products coming to market seemed to focus on energy efficiency rather then design and functionality.
What is so interesting about the pursuit of energy efficiency by so many manufacturing companies is that it is so difficult to differentiate your products by speaking only about how much energy your product will save a consumer versus your competitors. In fact, our research indicates that Florida consumers are focused on design features, storm protection and installation with energy efficiency especially after the expiration of the 2010 tax credit coming in just about last.
By listening to the requests of our customers, Florida Window and Door has introduced several design options for 2011. We have introduced over fifty different finishing options with different exterior and interior finishes available. We have introduced several new hardware options with different styles and finishes.
We have also introduced enhanced impact glass options with different tint colors and energy efficiency standards specifically designed for the State of Florida and its hurricane impact requirements.
Florida Window and Door is pleased that the International Builder Show has reaffirmed our belief that energy efficiency is important to the long term health of our country and the world. It is the design and designer options of products that are often at the forefront of the consumers mind when making a decision on which products to purchase.
